I am closing on a house on december 28, 2010. will me and my wife get any kind of tax credit or any kind of write off on our 2010 taxes.

American Opportuity Credit -- the TT caculation appears to have flaw when 529 distributions are also involved.
TT correctly covers that you can't deduct or take a credit for the same expense twice. However, it does not allow you use up the 529 distributions on items like room & board so that the more restrictive expenses (e.g., tuition)which you did cover with the 529, can be allocated to (& full use) AOC.
Is there a way to override TT on this?

Can you claim tax on a new car if you bought it in 2010 bit forgot to include it on your 2010 tex return. Can you use it for your 2011 return? Kind of like a late entry..

andrew toop, if haven't gotten an answer, pretty sure you cannot include 2010 care on 2011 return; but you can go back and do a correction on your 2010 form, which is pretty easy, check for IRS correction form on line
